Conformation

Conformation is an important competitive event as dogs must have proper Conformation in order to succeed in breed appropriate performance events.

In the conformation ring the dogs are judged on how closely they conform to their Breed Standard.  Dogs compete first at the Breed-class level (in this case against other Alaskan Klee Kai), the breed winner will move on to compete at the Group level (Northern) and the Group winner will move on to compete in Best In Show.

While all Conformation shows are available for intact dogs, United Kennel Club has additional categories for Altered (spay/neutered), Veterans (7+ years of age), and Novice Puppy (3-6 months).

You can find the Alaskan Klee Kai breed standard, here, and for more information about showing conformation within United Kennel Club, check out their page, here.
